🌈 As June unfolds, we remember it's National Pride Month - a time to focus on the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth in foster care. 🏳️🌈 LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented in child welfare systems, often underreported due to harassment and abuse risks if their identity is disclosed. Studies show about 30% of youth in foster care identify as LGBTQ+, compared to 11% of youth not in foster care. Youth who identify as LGBTQ+ and of color, face even greater challenges and longer stays in the system, with higher risks of discrimination and violence.❤️🩹 We see this in our work,
