Continue ReadingSatyen Bhatia arrived in Yolo County three years ago to attend school at UC Davis. He saw a few posts about Yolo County CASA on Facebook and thought it sounded like a great organization to be a part of. Additionally, he worked for the Davis Vanguard, a local publication with a legal slant. He had heard through his work there about the challenges foster children face. He applied to the training and has been a CASA volunteer for just over a year.
Continue ReadingTrina Breuner McMorrow arrived in Yolo County about 20 years ago due to a job transfer. She and her then young family chose Davis as their new home town. At the time, Trina worked as a healthcare attorney, and earlier in life, as a nurse. Trina liked her ability to help people in each of these positions, but scaled back after several years to spend more time with her children.

🏈 Last night’s game lasted 4 hours. In that time, nearly 180 children entered foster care—one every 81 seconds, less than a single commercial break.
💙 While we cheered, these kids faced uncertainty & loss. But they don’t have to face it alone.
CASA volunteers stand beside them, offering stability, guidance, and hope. 🙌 You can be that person. You can change a child’s story. 📩 Reach out to info@yolocasa.org to learn how.

💪🏾 Representation matters. In California, about 21% of children in foster care are Black/African American, yet there is a critical need for more advocates from the Black community. As a CASA volunteer, you can provide guidance, stability, and representation for a child in care—serving as a powerful role model during a pivotal time in their life. Join us in making a difference. This is a powerful reminder that youth in care need someone who believes in them & encourages them to reach for their dreams. 🌟 Most youth in care aren’t always encouraged to pursue college or take advantage of programs like AB-12. But with a CASA by their side, they can be motivated to aim higher & achieve more. 💙 Do you want to make a lasting difference in a child’s life? Become a CASA & be that person who shows up. 🙌 We can answer your CASA questions today at 530-650-9351 or via info@yolocasa.org.
