Jen Boschee-Danzer came to Davis thirteen years ago with her family to pursue an advanced degree in sociology at UC Davis, a subject that has driven her career since, “In my studies I became fascinated by the way social circumstances and environments can transform an individual’s life—for better or worse—and I knew that I wanted my professional and volunteer endeavors to be focused on transforming lives for the better.”

Holly Wong’s life changed forever when she was just three days old. “I was adopted by incredible parents when I was just three days old and over the years I’ve become more and more aware of how lucky I was to be adopted into a wonderful family with incredible support. Many other children are put into vulnerable situations and don’t have the support and resources I received. Because of this, I have a heart for kids in crisis.”

A 19-year residence of Davis, Susan Lovenburg has always been attracted to children’s and educational causes. Since 2007,Susan has served on the Davis School Board. Prior to that, she was a long-time parent volunteer in the school district.

Vickie Rafter has always had a heart for public service. She began her career as a federal law enforcement agent and came to Yolo County in 1997 as a civilian working in the air force. Vickie was stationed at McClellan and her husband, an active duty pilot, was stationed at Travis Air Force Base so they put down roots in between in Davis.

Lori Ross is no stranger to volunteer work. She grew up volunteering in her church and now as a mother of two children, has volunteered for countless PTA event and little league games. Her career has also kept her busy. She’s worked her entire life to help others, first as a director of the Yolo County YMCA and now as the executive director of Woodland United Way.
