Hearts of Yolo: Kim Eichorn

Thursday, May 17, 2018

Kim Eichorn is born and raised in Davis and has been a local realtor for over two decades. “I love the Davis community and have had the privilege of getting to know many of its members through my profession, volunteer, and philanthropic work.”

Kim is a long-time philanthropist, and she is drawn to Yolo County CASA because of its mission to provide advocacy and role models to children who may not otherwise have those resources. “The world seems to be getting more and more complicated. Children with good parental support systems struggle, let alone foster children who move homes often, or otherwise feel they have nowhere to turn for consistent guidance and support. Yolo County CASA’s cause really speaks to me.”

For years, Kim has been a loyal donor to Yolo County CASA, and just recently she was one of the top donors to our Big Day of Giving fundraising campaign. Not only is she generous with her own resources—she also supports the Yolo Crisis Nursery, STEAC, Empower Yolo, the Yolo Food Bank, the Davis Schools Foundation and more—she also encourages philanthropy in others.

“As a realtor, I have a tradition where I donate $250 to a nonprofit in honor of the client who just closed with me as a thank you gift. Not only is it a great way to consistently be philanthropic but it also spreads the spirit of giving to others. Many of my clients have thanked me for getting them into the giving spirit, and I, too, have learned more about nonprofits I may not otherwise have known about.”

Because Kim is extraordinarily busy in her profession, philanthropic donations are the biggest way she can currently help Yolo County CASA, but someday she would like to do more volunteering. “When the time is right, I will do more volunteering. Each year I am incredibly inspired by the transformative stories told at the auction and dinner. It just makes you want to do more and more.”

For now, though, Kim is dedicated to continuing to help in other ways, “Whenever I donate to Yolo County CASA, I know that the funds will go directly to services for the children. I am excited about their goal to serve every foster child in Yolo County with a CASA volunteer someday. I will keep helping until they reach their goal.”
